About the Site
Located in West Africa, Niger is a French speaking country which is 80% covered by the Sahara Desert. It is a resource-rich, land-locked country with uranium, gold and oil, yet very little income from the mines and wells has trickled down to the general public. Niamey, the capital of Niger, has a population of about 775,000 people, where at least 8 different people groups are represented. Aside from walking on the sand and seeing camels on the road, having tea with a friend is a common past time.
